A being is being
a slow being is being slow
a slowing’s slowing
As a tribute to the slowed down tempo, Slowing´s Slowing dances through time. In the work, the audience is invited into the performance space by children to witness a being’s existence, as it dances in slow listening and explores inner and spatial temporalities, like glimpses of layers in time. Different slow motions and temporalities are overlaid through individual and collective movements, stretching out, attempting to extend time. This creates traces in the landscape, of movements in a spectrum ranging from the softly still to the vibrantly powerful. Through activating slow dance, the work challenges the experience of time and creates space for expanded attention.
The performance is a further development of the work S L O W I N G S, which premiered at Dansens Hus in Stockholm in the fall of 2024. The work is rooted in the long-standing, both individual and collaborative, work of Lisen Ellard and choreographer Mira Mutka on the theme of slowness. Slowness has permeated their artistic practices and choreographic qualities for a long time, resulting in several site-specific works.
